Hípica Aguamarga is a family-owned equestrian centre, located in beautiful surroundings in Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, Almeria Province, three kilometres from the small white fishing village of Agua Amarga. Agua Amarga is one of the most characteristic and picturesque villages of this exciting region, with a wonderful sandy beach and crystal clear water. Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park is one of the few sub-desertic areas in continental Europe and was the first maritime and terrestrial Protected Area in Andalusia.
Our riding centre has large facilities, perfectly integrated in the desert landscape, with whitewashed stables, a 40x60 arena and many paddocks following the natural contours of the area.
We have a great variety of horses, ponies and donkeys, suitable for riders of any age and ability. Children adore our small ponies and our sweet donkeys!
Hípica Aguamarga offers year round livery stables, where horses are cared for withindividual attention, 24 hours a day.
Our specialty is Guided Riding Tours throughout the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park.
This ride follows a natural path through a dry river bed (Rambla) near our riding centre. It is perfect for beginners and children.
This ride is suitable for more the more experienced rider. It follows part of a dry river bed and ends at an old and unusually big olive tree, which is thought to be more than a 1000 years old.
This route follows the scenic trails surrounding the spectacular Cala de Enmedio, one of the most beautiful unspoiled beaches in the Natural Park. The ride takes you along paths with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and the surrounding landscape, allowing you to admire the cove from several panoramic viewpoints. An unforgettable horseback riding experience for nature lovers.
For this ride you will need some riding experience. We follow the path of the old railway towards Lucainena de las Torres, a small town located in the mountains of the Natural Park. You will pass the 1000-year-old Olive Tree and take the path of the old mineral loading bay of Lucainena.
